Witch and Rabbits

Rabbits are small foraging animals that use their long hind legs to hop at surprising speeds and pivot on a dime. The large stiff flaps atop the head flush with color when alarmed or during the mating season, and are used in a rudimentary form of communication. These ones are curious about a visitor to their swampland home, a witch that has come to harvest sugarcane. Witches are villagers that live on their own, using their closeness to the natural world to brew medicines and other concoctions, occasionally coming into town to trade them for supplies. They have been known to defend themselves from aggressive wildlife by smashing noxious chemical brews on or around them.
Sugarcane is a tall shore plant that produces sweet nutrients in abundance that can be used in conjunction with other compounds to produce varied effects. The plant's durable fibrous skin is often dried and used by villagers as a writing surface.
