Another alien species from Stephenie Meyer's book 'The Host'.
The Bears live on the Mists Planet, a frozen world beyond human survival capacities. They have thick fur and cold-resistant but soft skin, with a small pouch in the middle of the chest for them to carry and incubate their eggs. Bears are warm-blooded, with four hearts to warm their fast-flowing blood, making them very well adapted to the cold, but also making even minor cuts or bruises a severe bleeding danger. Bears see in ultraviolet light, making their surrounding ice and snow full of a rainbow of colors. They have sharp, serrated blades on all six of their hands (all of whose fingers can flex both ways), which originally evolved to allow them to navigate slippery ice with ease, but are now also used to carve ice into beautiful structures/sculptures. They incorporate this art form into everything in their society, the beauty of their carved-ice cities being a point of civic and personal pride.
The Bears were beginning to explore their own solar system when the Souls arrived on their home, sending unmanned (or, 'un-beared'
) probes out of their atmosphere.

I like these Bears are plantigrade two different palms and have a form that can remind Bears Earth resting on its six limbs. I love the details of hand.
