Description

This group of Avesia has evolved wings supported by a spine-like arrangement of bones and a system of semi-calcified cartilaginous rods, and the tail (used for steering) is similarly structured; this support system allows for maximum flight thrust and control.  The beak-like mouthparts have also become very specialized in this Family of Avesia, molded to suit the specific feeding habits of the animal they belong to.  Swifter species are mostly adapted to plucking smaller organisms from their perches or right out of the air, having long and precise mandibles as well as pointed wings and a bifurcated tail flaps.  Others, adapted to eating Odiflora or produce, have larger mouthparts adapted to crushing and grinding, and the wings and tail are relatively short and rounded.  Predatory species have adapted their lateral mandibles into hooks for gripping and tearing flesh, while their wings and tail have become large and good for energy-conservative gliding.  Distinct from the rest, a few species are locked somewhere between the larva and adult stages, never pupating, but still able to reproduce and fly.
